Duke L'Orange

Name: Duke L’Orange

Alias’ and Nicknames: None

Race: Duck

Sex: Male

Age: 31

Appearance: Duke is a handsome duck of medium height, with medium gray feathers and olive eyes. Or, well, eye- his left eye is missing, and covered with a bionic eyepatch. His hair is the same color gray as his feathers, and he has a white streak through his prominent bangs. His beak has a small triangular chip in the front. He is exceptionally muscular, but very lean as well.

Personality: Duke cuts a very dashing figure. He is charming and intelligent, as well as exceptionally vain. He has a very romantic streak, and often places himself in the role of the roguish pirate that all the girls fall for. He has an intense sense of chivalry, the type of man who would open doors and pull out chairs for women. He also is intensely loyal, protecting those he cares about fearlessly and often to complete exaustion, and would no sooner betray his comrades than he would cut out his good eye.

Duke has a very high opinion of himself that often gets him in trouble. He rarely admits wrong-doing or his faults- though when he does, it will be unfailingly honest.

Due to the nature of his previous life on Puckworld, Duke can sometimes be very secretive, and will take quick offence to anyone who accuses him of using his thieving skills for anything but good (or his definition thereof).

Attire: Duke is an impeccable dresser, believing that fashion sense is a important life skill. Almost a male Mallory in some respects, he is always clothed in the most fashionable, and often most expensive attire you can find on the market. He is also rather fond of trenchcoats, and of course, the much loved leather pants. In battle, Duke wears a sleek maroon bodysuit, typical combat boots, and a pouched shoulder belt filled with the tools of his former trade.

Weapons: Duke’s primary weapon is a gold colored saber with a retractable blade. He may also use Pucklaunchers, as well as different thievery tools.

Likes: Himself, reading, women, coffee, fine art, jazz, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Dislikes: The Saurians, being distrusted, daytime television, rap music.

History: Duke L’Orange was born to a lower middle class family in DuCain City, the second largest urban center on Puckworld. His family life was not a happy one- his father was construction worker, and was killed in an accident at his workplace. His mother was an alcoholic, and often verbally and physically abused her children. He had one elder sister who became pregnant at fourteen, and ran away from home with her boyfriend. Duke himself vowed he would never again live a life like this, and graduated from High School with straight A’s, earning a full scholarship to Blackfeather University, where he graduated at the top of his class with a degree in business. While there, he also took many fencing classes, a sport he both enjoyed and was adept at. He was legendary around the school for his speed, skill, and dexterity.

However, after college, Duke had trouble finding a job. His hot temper and large ego often kept him from kissing the right butts, and he soon found himself on the streets, with no money and no home. Desperate, he contacted an old college chum, Darrel Young, who knew of his skills of both the mind and body, and put him in contact with a mysterious thief ring called the Brotherhood of the Blade. Charmed by the romantic and spontaneous lifestyle the Brotherhood’s members enjoyed, Duke joined, and quickly rose in the ranks, till at last he achieved the status of leader.

After Dragaunus attacked, Duke found himself using his thieving skills more and more to help those who were ruled over by the Saurians. Realizing that the selfish lifestyle he had lived before no longer appealed to him, Duke disbanded the Brotherhood, with the promise that if he did not return after Dragaunus was defeated, the group would reform under the leadership of Duke’s second in command, Olan Swiftfingers. Two weeks later, Duke was approached by Canard, and offered a position in the team that would take done the Saurian leaders. He accepted

Misc.: Duke has a mild obsession with the show Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and has a more than minor crush on Sarah Michelle Gellar herself. He was devastated at the end of season five, and locked himself in his room, where he sulked all the next day.

He is also a favorite target of Phil, the ducks manager, and has so far been coerced into appearing in People, Cosmopolitan, Fencing Monthly, and is slowly being prodded into a movie deal. However, he still absolutely refuses to appear in Playgirl.
